Gamera is a Japanese movie monster, like Godzilla.
I wrote Gamera! in 1997. I like to think of it as a B-poem, just as Gamera is a B-movie.
I made the Gamera picture using a videotape I took in 1993 of a turtle in Genoa, Italy, using a digital zoom. I played back the still video image on a TV set, then adjusted the hue and color to get the same effect I used to create some of my visual work.
